Welcome to the BHS Writing Center!

We are not an editing service.

Peer advisors will help students evaluate their own writing process using their own work, but they will not make any marks on student papers. Instead, a typical session may find an advisor following along as the student reads his or her paper out loud, helping to diagnose systemic problems, instructing and practicing strategies to help improve the student's overall writing, and then helping the student to create a plan for how to move forward in the writing process. We encourage students to come back as many times as they like for sessions during any stage of the composition process (brainstorming, drafting, revision, editing, publishing, etc.), but it is always the student’s responsibility to complete all revisions. The Writing Center cannot guarantee A papers, only a place to find supportive and constructive feedback, strategy instruction, and practice.

Our goal is to help create better writers, not just better papers. 

Walk-ins are welcome (see below for our staffing schedule), but we cannot guarantee you will be seen immediately if you do not make an appointment. The "Xs" indicate periods when tutors are not available. Periods with names show how many tutors are available. Special arrangements for sessions are sometimes possible. Please fill out a request form in the library.

The sign-in sheet is located in the Bolton High School library on the circulation desk.
